A gem! Read this in one sitting on a glorious Sunday afternoon. Took me straight to beautiful Exmoor and was a perfect antidote to the busy, real world. Looking forward to more from Gail Crane! 5 stars

A lovely story and easy to read. Very enjoyable read , gripping at times, so much so didn’t want to put it down. Couldn’t wait for the next chapter. Well written and didn’t want it to end. Loved the inclusion of the Exmoor ponies and the Exmoor setting. Looking forward to reading more of Gail’s books. 5 stars

A most enjoyable read. Lovely piece of escapism, where better than on Exmoor? Can’t wait for the next one. 4 stars

Goodreads Reviews

Living right in the area where this book is set, I found myself drawn in to this dramatic story. Everything the heroine Jessica holds dear has either been lost or is under extreme threat…or is it? Her lonely struggle to make sense of it all amid the deception of several ‘friends’ along with her own self-deception, all make this an excellent ‘page-turner’. I’ll say no more, read it! 5 stars

I picked this book up at my library as I had never seen it anywhere before.
I enjoyed the characters and the story. We meet Jessica at her father’s funeral, she has come home to run the family B&B. However, she finds that her father has asked Max Corrigan to invest in the business. Max and Jessica have an argumentative relationship, that means they butt heads at times. Then there is Giles, a family friend that is hiding a secret that involves Jessica’s father.
As Jessica finds out what has been happening, she is more determined to save the family B&B. She is helped by her Aunt and friends.
Will Max end up as more that an investor in the business? 3 stars
