I was born in Shropshire but spent most of my life in Oxfordshire. We enjoyed many family holidays on Exmoor and I decided early on that I wanted to live there. With retirement I finally realised that dream.
I started writing in my twenties, producing articles and short stories for magazines; stories for children’s comics; and numerous verses for greetings cards. Eventually, the demands of family, a full time job, and setting up and running a business, meant writing had to take a back seat. It wasn’t until I retired that I started writing seriously again.
I began writing short stories for women’s magazines; at the same time starting to write novels.
My romance novels and many of my short stories have been inspired by the moors and coast of Exmoor.
I have always been fascinated by history, and I soon became engrossed with the history and legends of Exmoor and its people. This inspired me to write my first non-fiction work, “The Murder of Anna Maria“, the true story of notorious Exmoor murderer, William Burgess.
This was followed by “Stained Glass in Exmoor Churches“, an illustrated exploration of the stories behind the images in the windows.
In 2014 I successfully completed a BA (Hons) degree with Open University, studying creative writing, and I became a member of the Alliance of Independent Authors.
