What do you find the least enjoyable part of writing?
For me, it has to be editing. Paying such close attention to detail, I find sheer hard work and exhausting. But it has to be done.
I have just completed editing 20 short stories, some of which havenโt seen the light of day for years. Iโve ruthlessly removed all unnecessary words, including dozens of โthatsโ, and cut a lot of adjectives that were doing little other than boosting the word count.
Iโve come to the conclusion that less is definitely more.
So despite the hard slog and eye strain, it is definitely worth the effort. Though Iโm not sure I would go quite as far as Don Roff who said, โ๐๐ฅ๐ช๐ต ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ข๐ฏ๐ถ๐ด๐ค๐ณ๐ช๐ฑ๐ต ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ต๐ช๐ญ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ ๐ง๐ช๐ฏ๐จ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด ๐ฃ๐ญ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐บ๐ฐ๐ถ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ท๐ฆ ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ช๐ป๐ฆ๐ฅ ๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐บ ๐ญ๐ข๐ด๐ต ๐ธ๐ฐ๐ณ๐ฅ.
